The NWT’s Next Strategy — Co-Produced By YOU!

From makeup artists and fixers to virtual effects pros and producers, the Northwest Territories is full of professionals working in media.

Five years ago, the NWT Film Commission launched the territory’s first film strategy — Take One: A Film Strategy and Action Plan for the Northwest Territories. The NWT has since become known for award-winning films, circumpolar festivals, and one-of-a-kind stories.

Now, it’s time to build on that success and produce the NWT’s next film and media strategy. But first, we need your input!

What is film and media?

For our purposes, film and media are defined as screen-based storytelling available by broadcast, streaming, or download, along with virtual reality and interactive content.

Film and media does not include things like national broadcasters like the CBC or News/North.

How do I participate?

Scroll down and share your thoughts using the three tools below. We’ve developed:

  • An idea board to start big, open conversations on the future of film and media
  • Targeted discussion forums to get you thinking and talking

The NWT Film Commission is also working with the NWT Professional Media Association to collect input from professionals across the territory.

How will my contribution make a difference?

Your input will influence your government’s work to strengthen the NWT’s media industries through programs, services, and initiatives.

Where can I find more information?

A collection of useful links and documents can be found in our libraries to the right.
